Styling Tips for Your Mixed Gender Wedding Party

Styling Tips for Your Mixed Gender Wedding Party

Mixed gender wedding parties are fast becoming the norm. Why choose people of the same sex because that’s what tradition dictates when you can choose your closest friends, regardless of their gender.

When it comes to styling your wedding party though, you might need to approach things a little differently.

Here are some tips that will help:

Get input. Before you start deciding what everyone will wear, sit down with your wedding party to get their opinions. When you choose to mix things up, you’re going to need to be sensitive to everyone’s needs. If need be, you may want to have separate conversations with certain people to find out what they are comfortable with.

Create a Pinterest board. To make it easier for everyone to give their input, create a Pinterest board that you can share with your wedding party. You could also create a WhatsApp group, but this can quickly get messy when it’s used for wedding planning and sharing ideas.

Find a happy medium. As much as you want to make everyone feel comfortable, make sure that you’re still choosing outfits and accessories that fit in with the theme of the wedding. It is your big day after all.

Match outfits with accessories. There is no need to dress everyone in the same color. What you can do is choose two different colors and find ways to crossmatch the accessories. For example, ties or bowties could match with the bridesmaids’ dresses.

Use flowers to bring it all together. Bouquets and boutonnieres are another way to bring your wedding party outfits together. Opt for gender-neutral florals to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable.

Keep in mind that if both you and your partner have mixed gender wedding parties, there really is no need to differentiate which side each member is on. Having one group of people standing with you at the altar is perfectly fine too.

If you do want to make your maid of honor or best man stand out, you can give them a slightly different outfit, accessories, or flowers.
